Q: What is Clarian Health?

A: Clarian Health refers to the consolidated health care organization that is comprised of Methodist Hospital, Indiana University Hospital and Riley Hospital for Children, Clarian West Medical Center, Clarian North Medical Center, Clarian Arnett Health and and all Clarian Health affiliate and satellite locations. Each of the hospitals maintains its individual name, but collectively, they are known as Clarian Health.

Q: How can I find a physician at Clarian?

A: There are two convenient ways to locate the physician who's right for you. While visiting Clarian.org, click on Find a Doctor to search for a physician practicing at Clarian. Enter your preferences, including age, sex and educational background of the physician, and you'll be presented with a list of doctors at Clarian matching your criteria. You'll also be able to request an appointment using Find a Doctor.

Clarian On-Call, the organization's physician referral service, can also help you find a doctor. Based on your current health care needs, Clarian On-Call provides names and contact numbers of physicians on all campuses. Clarian On-Call can also help you select physicians who participate in your specific insurance plan. You can reach Clarian On-Call by dialing 317-916-3525 or toll free at 800-265-3220.

Q: Can I choose the specialist that I want to see?

A: You can select the specialist you'd like to visit, but your primary care physician will probably help you make this decision. In some cases, your primary care physician will need to refer you to a specialist. Remember, it's important for you to let your doctor know if you have any preferences regarding a specialist.

Q: If Clarian is comprised of multiple hospitals, where should I go for inpatient or outpatient services, emergency room care, lab work, radiology, etc.?

A: You and your physician can choose the Clarian facility that is most convenient for you--as long as it is covered by your health insurance plan. If you have questions about your coverage, contact your insurance carrier, managed care plan or company benefits administrator directly for this information. In medical emergencies, go to the nearest emergency room regardless of your health plan or your physicians' privileges.

Q: Will Clarian accept my insurance?

A: Most likely. Clarian accepts nearly all insurance plans. If you have indemnity, or "fee-for-service" insurance, you are free to receive services at any Clarian location. If you are a member of a managed care plan, however, you should check to see which Clarian facilities you can visit without incurring a financial penalty. Your insurance company, managed care plan or corporate benefits representative will be able to answer these questions for you.

Q: I'd really like to see a physician at Clarian, but I don't live close to a Clarian hospital. Are there other locations available?

A: Definitely. Our physicians are located throughout the Indianapolis area and practice at a variety of locations. For primary care, you should consider a Methodist Medical Group (MMG) doctor. Methodist Medical Plazas, located along the "beltway" of I-465 are also convenient places to see physicians and have tests done. Learn more about MMG and the beltway facilities.
