Clinical Trials

Finding new cancer treatments and cancer prevention measures for cancer depends on research. Clarian Health supports the cancer research endeavors of both the Indiana University Melvin and Bren Simon Cancer Center and the Methodist Cancer Center. Both centers are actively involved in conducting clinical trials for many types of cancer. Clinical trials are crucial to finding new and better ways to not only prevent cancer, but most importantly, to treat it when it occurs.

Potential Benefits of Clinical Trials

Participating in a clinical trial can result in a number of benefits for cancer patients. According to the National Cancer Institute, some of these potential benefits include:

  • Cancer treatment and care alternatives provided by some of the best cancer research physicians
  • Access to promising drugs and treatments before they become widely available to others
  • Thorough monitoring of your cancer treatment and care
  • Achieving a more active role in your own cancer treatment and care
  • The possibility of being one of the first to benefit from a helpful or successful cancer treatment or drug
  • The satisfaction that comes with making a valuable contribution to the field of cancer research
