While many hospitals offer primary stroke services, Clarian Health provides the most comprehensive approach to prevention, diagnosis and treatment for all forms of stroke in Indiana. That is why Clarian Stroke Services provides more services to residents in Indiana than any other hospital.* Research demonstrates patients who are cared for in this type of setting have better outcomes and more complete recovery. If you think you are having a stroke call 911immediately, even if you are not sure you are having a stroke. It is critical that you receive emergency room treatment within one hour of the onset of symptoms. Drugs and treatments can be administered that are most effective if given within three hours. Warning signs of a stroke include:

  • Sudden numbness or weakness of the face, arm or leg, especially on one side of the body
  • Sudden confusion, trouble speaking or understanding
  • Sudden dizziness, loss of balance or coordination or trouble walking
  • Sudden severe headache with no known cause

Clarian Neuroscience's stroke program is committed to implementing the American Heart Association/American Stroke Association's "Get With The Guidelines-Stroke Program" designed to improve stroke care at all hospitals who participate in the program. Clarian Neuroscience is pleased to announce that its stroke program was recently honored by the American Heart Association/American Stroke Association for its commitment to this program and its dedication to improving stroke care to Indiana citizens.

*Based upon 2006 data: Methodist Hospital treats more stroke than any other hospital in Indiana and provides the most comprehensive treatment options for all forms of stroke in the state.
