Intestine Transplant

Only a handful of programs in the U.S. provide small bowel/intestinal transplants and multivisceral transplants. Multivisceral transplants involve transplanting multiple organs of the digestive system.

Clarian Transplant is the only Medicare-approved transplant center to perform multivisceral and intestine transplants in the region and only one of a handful in the nation. This designation is the result of tireless efforts by the transplant team, and it exemplifies Clarian's commitment to extraordinary patient care.

Clarian performed the first isolated intestine transplant in Indiana in 2003 and the first multivisceral intestinal transplant the same year. Clarian is routinely ranked among the top transplant programs in the U.S. by organ volume.

Clarian provides intestine and multivisceral transplants to adults and children. Nationally, children are making up more of the waiting list, due to congenital conditions and defects that can now be treated.
